V Punithan is a Singapore-trained educator with more than 20 years of teaching and training experience behind him. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from the National University of Singapore in 1987, he joined the National Institute of Education, to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Punithan taught in Singapore government schools for about 10 years. He then, went to teach English in Jakarta for a year and came back to Singapore to Head a Department at St Francis Methodist School, an international school here, for 4 years.
Punithan then switched careers to become a fulltime Broadcast Journalist with Mediacorp Television for a couple of years, writing and presenting news stories in English, for a bilingual community news programme. After completing the Mediacorp contract, Punithan joined Temasek Poly as an Adjunct Lecturer to teach Language and Communications Skills at its School of Applied Science. He also started lecturing part-time at Ngee Ann Poly and Singapore Poly.
In June 2015, he became a Trainer to conduct courses in the four ASEAN countries in the Singapore Cooperation Programme. Since then, he has also taught English Language and Communication Skills to civil servants in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam under the Initiative for ASEAN Integration.
